Outstanding Sixth Plate Tintype Of A Civil War Drummer
I have been a collector of civil war guns and images for thirty years. This great image has been in my collection for quite sometime, however, recent purchases forces me to find it another home.
This image si a sixth plate tintype showing a union drummer posed next to his drum. Unfortunately, the drum is position in a way that you cannot see any identification as to what outfit he was in.
This great close up view shows his musician's uniform, drmu sling and a colt revolver stuck in his belt. The image is bright, claer and sharp. Just to be totally honest there is one very small crease in the upper left hand corner which is only noticable when you turn the image at an angle. It does not detract at all and more than likely you would not have even notice it if i didn't mention it. There is alos one small sliver spot just below his left hand which also can only be seen when you hold the image at an angle. It too does not detract in the least and is only mention for total accuracy. The emulsion is absolutely tight. It comes in a union case which also is in excellent condition. The engraving on the case is entitled the lady and the falcon. The engraving is on the front and back of the case. This si great close up view of a tough looking union drummer. This image would be a great addiiton to any civil war collection. My reserve is evry reasonable given the condition content and quality. Shipping outside the u. S. Is more.
