Fine Civil War Sheble Fisher Saber Sword Scabbard~~~~~~~~ fine civil war sheble & fihser saber / sword & scabbard~~~~~~~. This auction offers a well preserved civil war era swodr and scabbard- as pitchured. I believe this is the model 1840 calvary sword. Sword blade is marked sheble & fisher near the guard. All of the metal pieces are coated with some type of atn colored preservative coating that has stopped most of the rusting. Not sure what the coating is, maybe cosmoline. They did. Nt coat teh leather grip. The grip and leather wire wrap is in good condition. The blade measures 35 5/8 long x 1 1/14 wideat the hilt. Blade has not been sharpned, and doesn't appear to have any rust on it. The metal surface is covered with small black specks, not sure if this is narmal apperance of the metal or not. Yuo can see the specks in the close-up photosof the blade. The scabbard has alos been coated with the preservetave and looks like it could be cleaned.
