Civil War Cavalry Sword Saber And ScabbardFor auction is an original model 1840 heavy cavalry saber and scabbard! On nov-23-08 at 211215 pst, seller added the following informationthis is a great sword manufactured by the ames fmg co of cabotville, mass. Ames was the premier maker of edged weapons both prior to and during the war between the states. This saber was 11 years old when the american civil war broke out. It would surely have been called back into action by whichever side had it in its rasenal as both sides scrambled to arm there rapidly expanding armies! This saber is in overall godo condition. The guard is in great unbent condition. It has a great mellow deep mustard patina. The pommel is double inspector marked jcw and adk. hTe sword appears never to have been apart. The blade is full length, unbent, and unsharpened. The ricasso is marked us / adk on one side and ames mfg co / cabotville / 1850 on the other. The tip is in great condition as well. The grip on the saber is in fair condition. It has a very black appearance, but does not retain tis full leather wrap. There is full wire wrap present, and the sword displays like a million bucks. See photos. The scabbard is complete with both rings and the throta present. It has a dark chocolate patina, with a rough texture. This is a great opportunity to own a civil war sword that oculd have been used by the union or confederate army during the american civil war! Don't let this one get away! $ 1 to start and on reserve! Good luck! |
