Imagelikn img. Auctionimage border 2px solid #000006. Here is a what i believe to be a miniature vintage civil war era cannon that is in very good condition.
The brass base measures 2 in diameter & 2 tall, the cast iron cannon measures 5 1/4 in length, has a 3/16 bore. The cannon hsa a touch hole and possibly could be fired.
I'm unsure as to what function the threaded shaft plays, it has a jointed top & the threaded shaft in to which it screws appears to end in dead. However, if you look down into the pivot shaft a threaded shaft appears in the side of it adjacent to where the threaded shaft is located. It's difficult to judge the age of the piece but the cannon barrel & brass mounting both exhibit patina & aging. I would estimate that it is at least 50 to 60 years old and could possibly be considerabyl older. A quality item and a very worthy addition to any civil war miniature or replica cannon collection.
